Thomas Berry

Thomas Berry was probably the first radical thinker to provide us with a comprehensive analysis of the present crisis of humanity. His book The Great Work explains the reasons for this crisis and deals with the fundamental changes that are necessary to overcome anthropocentrism and the idea that humans are to dominate the Earth. According to Berry, the historical mission of our times is to reinvent what it means to be human and to create the basic conditions that will enable the humans to become present to the Earth in a mutually enhancing manner. The opposition between human-centered and earth-centered norms and values is the central issue of the 21st century.

If we make ourselves unfit for the community of life, then the community of life is going to reject us.
